Young Healthwatch

The purpose of Young Healthwatch is to magnify young people’s voices by finding out their views and experiences of Health and Social Care Services with a view to making sure they are meeting people’s needs and to suggest or call for improvements where needed based on people’s comments.

What are the aims of Young Healthwatch?

  • To allow young people to have a voice and share their opinions and experiences of local health and social care services
  • To help young people gain knowledge on relevant health and social care subjects and know where they can access reliable information from
  • To have young people participate in community-based activities
  • To enable young people to have volunteering opportunities within Healthwatch
  • To promote a culture where young people’s opinions and experiences are listened to and valued and ensure that young people’s views are listened to by those who can make service changes.

What issues have already been identified?

We have heard from young people throughout this year and have heard that the main issues they face are around:

  • Mental health
  • Sexual health
  • Teenage Pregnancy
  • Communication with GP

How can you be involved?

Are you:

  • 16 – 25?
  • Interested in a Career in Healthcare?
  • Interested in gaining work experience?
  • Passionate about making a difference in your Community?

Then come volunteer for us at Young Healthwatch

We are currently recruiting for young people to join us in the following roles:

  • Carrying out their own research projects
  • Creative content (website page, social media, video, physical publications etc.)
  • Enter and view representatives
  • Mystery shopper activities
  • Public speaking
  • Report writing
  • Report/research presentations
  • Social media
  • Supporting Healthwatch events
